Before CAM

Inspect features, access and reach before programming toolpaths.

Connect recognized features to the part and compare geometric access, candidate orientations and reach before deeper process planning.

Example analysis · clean-room STEP fixture

Inspect the part in Manufacturing.

What to review and why it matters

  1. Compare Cartesian access

Select the six directions in Manufacturing. Inspect the accessible, partial and blocked face evidence instead of assuming the whole part is reachable from one direction.

  2. Review candidate orientations

Compare direct, incremental and cumulative coverage. These are geometric candidates for review, not validated physical setups.

  3. Interpret reach in its stated scope

Inspect the reported geometric reach and optional comparison. Confirm cutters, holders, fixtures, collisions and actual machine travel separately in process planning and CAM.

The useful output is faster context for the programmer: where to investigate access and reach before choosing the actual process.
